Job Summary:

Our assistant counsels support Liberty Mutual trial attorneys from field offices across the country as they handle a variety of legal issues and collaborate to represent Liberty Mutual and our policyholders in civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters. Because it does not entail personal legal appearances, this position does not require travel.

Day-to-day responsibilities include: 

Using litigation protocols to develop and revise appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation and communicate them to our claims representatives and policyholders

Developing and rendering clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies

Researching the law applicable to cases and matters

Conducting necessary and appropriate discovery, and drafting legal documents, pleadings, motions and opinions

Qualifications: 

An LLM or JD degree

Membership in the Oklahoma State Bar

Ability to develop appropriate strategies for discovery, investigation and handling matters

Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, as well as pertinent knowledge in related fields

Proficiency with technologies that improve the practice of law, reduce costs and facilitate remote work

General knowledge of civil procedure and the litigation process

Talent for cultivating strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Aptitude for detail-oriented, analytical thinking
